Everywhere means nowhere

I wanted to become a better writer. So naturally, what you do is keep a list. Every idea that shows up, you append. And then, when you finally have time to write, you have a huge list to pick from. But there is the problem, instead of sitting down and writing, now that I have so many beautiful topics, I stand in front of a dilemma. Which one ?

So I assign my AI assistant with the task, to pick one for me, so I don’t have to think about it. And what I notice is it picks one time from the list, but then it stops and continues to delve into the same topic but on a different angle. And then again. So I am surprised - why ? When will I get to my next beautiful topic, I have so many, but I keep appending.

Same topic appears elsewhere, people are discussing it. I think I should have thought already on the subject, its in my list.

Then I came across this quote from Seneca:

Suddenly stumbling over the words of this guy from 2000 years ago solves my unease with my AI assistant. And my AI provider tokens’ bill is now justifiable. My other beautiful topics can now wait a bit more and I bet part of them will solved at least partially by going very deep into each one of them. The list of twelve things isn’t twelve debts, it’s one subject circled from twelve angles

Like my AI assistant and this roman stoic from 2000 years ago found common ground. So next time I look at the list of my beautiful topics I’ll search for this.

Can I find an angle that connects my current topic and the one I put my finger on.
